Jersey County Rural Water Company is a large distribution system covering a four-county area. We currently have 3950 customers and use an average of 1.1 million gallons per day. We have two water purchase points with chemical feed stations at each. In the past, we monitored these two stations daily, as well as six storage tanks and five additional booster stations. Three hours per day with two employees was required to check our pump stations and tanks daily.
We checked into several radio telemetry systems, and we were very impressed by the Navionics system - especially for our "spread-out" system. The EPA informed us at our last inspection that we were required to be under constant surveillance with alarm notification. An active approach to find a radio system to best fit our needs led us to Navionics. We budgeted 2 sites per fiscal year, and more if money was available. We visited two systems with Navionics controls in place and talked to the water operators using the equipment. They were well pleased with the system and recommended it highly. Mr. Mimlitz was asked to attend our Board of Directors meeting to present his system's benefits and to answer questions. Our Board's main concern was that his company was relatively small, and we therefore needed to make sure we had documentation on every aspect of the system. The Board and I were very impressed with his answers to our questions and his professionalism at the Board meeting. The Board voted unanimously to start the 4-year project with Navionics.
As manager, the Navionics system impressed me for 3 reasons. The first reason is the fact that it was user-friendly - especially since I had only been using a computer regularly for two years. The second reason is the fact that his automatic system has two failover modes in the event of a radio failure: timer and pressure operation. The third (and most important to us) is that the system is flexible and it can give you the information you want to see from the remote sites. Mr. Mimlitz wants your input to improve his system and strives to give the customer what he wants. The Portable C3 Unit is also very helpful - allowing us to monitor and modify from anywhere.
The Navionics system has allowed our employees' and manager's time to be used more effectively, and has cut down on weekend and weekly overtime. We currently have 10 of 14 sites on line with Navionics, and we are very impressed with the outcome. The first two sites have been in operation for over 2 years and have had only minor start-up operations problems. Jim's attention to detail and accuracy makes his system unique, and his effort to give the customer what they want is an added bonus. Navionics' radio telemetry system has been a very useful tool in our distribution system, and we anxiously look forward to having our complete system up and running with Navionics equipment. Time saved is money saved, as they always say!!!!!
Sincerely,
Greg A. Bates

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how satisfied I am with my new Navionics system. Prior to the installation of your system I spent many sleepless nights "babysitting" my pump station after my previous system failed, which somehow always occurred around a holiday. My wife appreciates my new Navionics system as much as I do. In the odd event of an alarm (so far all my alarms have been caused by power failures), all I have to do is go to my Portable C3 Laptop and I can see what the problem is - regardless of the time of night, all without ever leaving the house! Navionics has made my life so much more enjoyable. The only people who can truly appreciate my statement are the other operators which had a system as bad as my old one and have stepped up to a Navionics system. I have to agree this system is truly "world class telemetry".
Thank you,
