A key component installed within the control panel at all stations is a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). In case of power outage, the UPS provides reserve power to keep the control equipment running until power is restored or until the battery depletes \u2014 whichever occurs first.<\/p>\n

NRI’s preferred UPS for water towers and small pump\/lift stations is presently the 3S Series by Eaton. Like many UPS manufacturers, Eaton ships its 3S-series units from the factory with the internal battery disconnected.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because if the battery were connected, and the UPS inadvertently switched ON during bumpy transit, then the UPS would start beeping\u00a0\u2014 and delivery drivers don’t like packages that start beeping, for obvious reasons!<\/p>\n

Therefore, when your new UPS arrives, you will need to connect the battery terminals.\u00a0 The following photos illustrate the sequential steps required to connect the battery:<\/p>\n
