Increased Lightning Protection

Because an antenna that is staged at the peak of a water tower is a more attractive target for lightning strikes, it is often more desirable to mount an antenna at the level of the painter rings below the spheroid tank.  However, the tubular metal painter rings generally take the form of horizontal concentric rings around the tower – and therefore do not provide a convenient vertical structure for mounting an antenna.  To solve this problem, SCADAmetrics is pleased to introduce the PTM-90 Mount Kit. The PTM-90 is a crossover kit that provides a convenient method for attaching a vertical pipe to the painter rings. The vertical pipe is then suitable for mounting Yagi and Microwave antennas, such as those used in SCADA and wireless Internet systems.

Easy-to-Install

The kit is easy-to-attach – which is of paramount importance to maximize worker safety during installation.

Rust-Proof

Every 5-10 years, antennas and mounting hardware must be temporarily removed from the water tower during sandblasting and re-painting operations.  Therefore, it is vitally important that the hardware kit consist only of corrosion-resistant materials that can be removed and re-installed on multiple occasions:  The stout 3/8” thick crossover adapter plate is constructed of solid 6061 aluminum; and the U-Bolts and hardware are made of 316 stainless steel; and the mounting pipe is T-304/304L stainless steel welded tube.
